- President Clark Stanford called meeting to order at 5:33 PM.President Stanford had the Supreme Chapter Officers introduce themselves: Secretary Treasurer Jon Suzuki, President-Elect Carol Murdoch-Kinch, and Vice President Ronald Sakaguchi. The Executive Director Brian Suzuki was also in attendance.
- President Stanford reminded delegates to sign the roll-call, and missing 2 consecutive meetings could mean loss of chapter recognition.
- By show of hands, President Stanford determined there was a quorum.
- President Stanford advised delegates to give their names and chapter affiliations when addressing the chair.
- President Stanford entertained a motion to dispense with the reading of March 10, 2024 Business Meeting Minutes because they are posted on okusupreme.org.There was a motion from the floor. Approved.
- President Stanford entertained a motion to approve the March 10, 2024 meeting minutes. There was a motion from the floor. Approved.
- President Stanford gave opening remarks. He also encouraged members to volunteer to serve on committees.
- Reading of Reports: Sec.Treasurer Jon Suzuki read the Board of Director’s Meeting Minutes from 3.9.25, the Secretary’s Report, and the Treasurer’s Report.President-Elect Carol Murdoch-Kinch read the Auditing committee report. Sec. Treasurer Suzuki read the Budget and Finance Committee Report. Immediate-Past-President Peter Loomer read the Bylaws committee report. President-Elect Murdoch-Kinch read the Nominating Committee Report: Dean Andre Ritter, Univ. of Washington, Sigma Sigma Chapter, was selected as the Vice President Nominee.
9. Call for approval – President Stanford called for Board of Directors 3.9.25 Meeting Minutes, Secretary Report, Treasurer Report, Audit Report, Budget Report, Bylaws Report, Nominating Report, Vice President Nominee selection, and Bylaw Amendment approval. There was a motion from the floor. Approved.
- Award Announcements (due to a UPS error, awards were delayed and not available to present to recipients on this day):
- Vice President Ronald Sakaguchi gave introductory remarks for the Leeper Award and announced the recipient: Dr. Karen Troendle, Mu Nu Chapter, Univ. of Texas, San Antonio. Immediate Past President Loomer accepted on behalf of Dr. Troendle.
- President-Elect Murdoch-Kinch gave introductory remarks for the Craig award and announced the recipient: Dr. Ryan Becker, Chi Chi Chapter, Loma Linda Univ.. Becker accepted the award.
- President Stanford gave introductory remarks for the Chapter Award and announced the winner: Pi Pi Chapter, Howard Univ. A Pi Pi delegate accepted the award.
- Treasurer Suzuki gave history and introductory remarks for the Research Award. Vice President Sakaguchi gave introductory remarks, thanked the chapters for their donations, and announced the winner: Dr. Hai Zhang, Sigma Sigma Chapter, Univ. of Washington. Dr. Zhang accepted the award.
- Sec. Treasurer Suzuki read the 2025 necrology report. Delegates stood for a moment of silent reflection.
- President Stanford reminded delegates to sign the attendance sheet at the room entrance if they have not already.
- President Stanford reminded delegates there was a change to membership dues in 2024: all incoming members will receive a stole, key, ribbon, and certificate this year.
- President Stanford announced there were two new chapters in 2024: Kansas City Univ. – College of Dental Medicine (Beta Xi) and Texas Tech University Health Science Center- El Paso (Beta Nu).
- President Stanford discussed some important topics from the OKU Board of Directors Meeting.The first was Pass/Fail Grading. The second was selection timing/balloting. President Stanford proposed that there be a bylaw change to allow local chapters to decide their own deliberation and timing of new inductee selection. The delegate from Omicron Omicron asked for clarification. President Stanford asked for show of hands if chapters wanted to pursue this change – by show of hands, it appeared all hands raised.
16. President Stanford installed officers for 2025-2026: President Carol Murdoch-Kinch, President-Elect Ronald Sakaguchi, Vice President Andre Ritter, and Secretary-Treasurer Jon Suzuki.
- Incoming President Murdoch-Kinch gave introductory remarks.
- President Murdoch-Kinch called for additional business, recommendations, or suggestions for the betterment of OKU:the Kappa Kappa Delegate asked a question about how to resolve difficulties with schools not providing class rank to OKU chapters. The Lambda Mu Delegate offered a solution to work with the specific dean. The Beta Mu delegate commented they ask for a specific grouping less than top 20%. The Mu Chapter delegate suggested students be offered to waive their privacy on grades to allow the local chapter to make a selection of new inductees.
- President Murdoch-Kinch reminded chapters that bylaws mandate they are to submit an annual report at least 30 days prior to the annual business meeting. A form is available at www.okusupreme.org.
- President Murdoch-Kinch announced the officers will conduct a post-business meeting in compliance with OKU Supreme Chapter by laws.
- President Murdoch-Kinch called for a motion to adjourn.There was a motion for adjournment. Seconded. Approved.
